Play off leg - Zrinjski Mostar Thursday 19th Feb

The next part of our European adventure takes us to Zrinjski Mosta FC in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday, February 19, 2026,  Kick-off time set for 18:45 CET / 17:45 GMT,

Our thanks go to our counterparts at Aston Villa for sharing information and their experiences of Mostar with us, which we have included in the information below.

Tickets

The club have now confirmed full ticketing details for our UEFA Europa Conference League play-off clash at HŠK Zrinjski Mosta.  We've been advised that Aston Villa were allocated 490 tickets which were collection only, however, it isn't clear whether this included any unused  tickets set aside for staff, players etc.  It will be important to check Palace official club channels for information closer to the match.  Palace do have a good record of maximising our allocation.

Being an away fan in Mostar
The area around Mostar has historically been generally fine and welcoming for visitors, with a low crime rate and friendly locals. Police may advise against venturing into certain parts of the city (particularly at night or away from tourist areas), but anecdotally our Villa contact reported  no issues exploring the town, including the historic Old Town and famous Stari Most bridge.

Mostar is considered generally safe for tourists, including during European away trips—comparable to many other European destinations. You are advised to stick to well-lit, populated areas after dark, avoid isolated spots, and follow local guidance.  You should stay aware of your surroundings, keep valuables secure, and note that large crowds (including before/after matches) can lead to congestion. Petty crime is low, but standard precautions apply.

Zrinjski Mosta FC's ground
The ground (Stadion pod Bijelim Brijegom) is in a somewhat wooded area and has been described by previous visitors as basic. A fair few away fans in past matches ended up with tickets in the home end — some managed to access the away section anyway. The away area is typically caged and to the right as you enter the stadium, with limited standing/viewing spots outside it if you’re not in the allocated section.

Transport to/from the ground is usually well organised with supporter buses provided (often from central Mostar or nearby hubs), though they can get packed on the return journey. Some fans choose to walk back afterward—it’s doable but check local conditions and group up if possible.

Flights and Logistics
Common routes include flying into Sarajevo (the main international airport), often via budget carriers like Wizz Air from various UK airports (e.g., Luton or similar).  From Sarajevo, it’s about a 2-hour drive or bus to Mostar— fans may be able to arrange hotel pick-ups, transfers, or group minibuses.

Check official club channels for any club-organised travel. Book flights/hotels early, and consider travel insurance covering sports events and potential delays.

Overall, it’s a straightforward away trip with a stunning location — enjoy the historic city, but plan ahead for transport and stay vigilant in crowds. Safe travels
